EMBASSY 516 are a dream pop / shoegaze
band from the ancient Dubrovnik, located
on the Adriatic coast, which they find influential on their „laid back sound”.
This audio-visual conceptual project started on 18
November 2006, leading to carrying out the initial idea to date. Sounds and
images filling the structure of this modern 'embassy' is a result of the hard
working collective that is striving for more.
Their debut album „Surveillance of the Environment” will
be published on 16 May 2012 under Geenger
Records. The title of the 12-piece collection is taken from the Three Step
Communiciaton Theory introduced by the leading American political scientist and
communications theorist Harold Lasswell:
1. Surveillance
of the environment
2. Correlation
of components of society
3. Cultural
transmission between generation
During their demo era that lasted for six years,
the band made some significant actions - took the main stages at prominent
festivals with the names like Massive Attack, The Flaming Lips, Ladytron,
Broken Social Scene, Martina Topley-Bird, etc. A praiseworthy success was
reaped with the demo - release S.o.E.
in 2008.
EMBASSY 516 spent the year of 2011 in Kramasonik Studio
in Zagreb with the producer Hrvoje Nikšić, and assistant sound engineer Neven
Marinac. The renowned producer Tom Baker was entrusted with the mastering of
the record, as the engineer
from Precision Mastering studio in Hollywood
who produced works by: Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Marilyn Manson, Ministry, Rob
Zombie and many other award (Oscar, Grammy) winning music names.
The first digital single „Souverain Bien” was released 1 March 2012 and accompanied with two
other songs offered to free download: acoustic B-side of Souverain Bien from
2009 and Aftermath. The debut single Souverain Bien is supported by a music video directed by
Zlatko Tomić. The video shoot took place in the town’s theatre in
Dubrovnik. It showcases the return to the past (actress Katia Kozina) to one’s former and
younger self, whereas the band imply the social critique donning dark
uniforms and black bindings on their faces. The premise alludes to the action
being independent from space and time. The video is choreographed by Deana Popović and female dancers
from the dance studio „Dea”.
The video had premiere on 16 April 2012 on MTV Adria.
Other singles: „The Bees, The
Beasts, The Nightmare Train“, „Post – Hoc“
