The Slow Readers Club Forever In Your Debt 1 December 2014 |
|
Manchester based Indie/electro band The Slow Readers Club follow the huge success of their last single ‘Don’t Mind’ with the re-release of fan favourite, the stunning 'Forever In Your Debt', a taut, energetic and danceable track with dark, introspective lyrics and rousing chorus. The band’s following has been building rapidly since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album in May 2012, which received airplay on BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, NME, Q Radio, NME TV, Sky Sports, Soccer am and ITV, drawing comparisons with Interpol, The Killers and Arcade Fire. Their innovative music videos have received widespread media attention with 2012’s ‘Block Out The Sun’ singled out to feature on Coldplay’s website. 2014 has seen The Slow Readers Club continue to build a loyal fan base with Peter Hook describing them as his new favourite band in a recent NME New Music Special and Steve Lamacq and Chris Hawkins featuring both their last single ‘Start Again’ as well as 'Don't Mind' on their BBC 6 Music shows. 'Don't Mind' has also featured on Steve Lamacq's Roundtable receiving 7/10 from all three panelists as well being named as Xfm's Shock of the New track on Jo Good's afternoon show. “Forever In Your Debt is just aching to be picked up by radio” Louderthanwar.com “Big things will happen for The Slow Readers Club and they deserve big things. They are the best band around at the minute, they’re exciting to watch, exciting to listen to and we can’t help but get excited about the prospect of a second album.” mancunianways.wordpress.com "The Slow Readers Club are without doubt on the cusp of something spectacular and if you haven't immersed yourself in their indie electro sounds by now, then it's high time you paid attention" Louise Dodgson - CityLife Extra (Editor of The Unsigned Guide) Reviews of ‘Don't Mind’ "A very fine new one from The Slow Readers Club" Chris Hawkins, BBC Radio 6 Music "I find nothing to dislike about this. 7/10" Mike Williams, Editor of NME "Sublime stuff." Listen With Monger "I really like it, there's something nicely held back about it, it's quite spacious. It has a nice feel and interesting structure" Rob Deering, Comedian "Filled with dark lyrics and melodies, ‘Don’t Mind’ portrays elegance and a feeling of betrayal and heartbreak throughout the track." Pulserift "It's nice, it's quite cuddly... I like it" John Penney, Neds Atomic Dustbin "There’s hints of The Smiths in there, but this is very much Slow Readers Club on their own terms. And those terms seem very agreeable to us."
