Después de arrancar viaje el pasado viernes 21 en Zaragoza con gran acogida de público y un sonido inmejorable, Josh Rouse vuelve a la carretera con sus dos músicos de confianza, Cayo Bellveser (bajo, piano y voces) y Xema Fuertes (tres cubano, banjo, guitarra, batería y voces), ambos ya con un amplio bagaje a sus espaldas. Junto a ellos ha dado forma a su último (y precioso) álbum, "Josh Rouse & The Long Vacations", base de arranque de cada concierto, que contará además con un completo repaso a los clásicos de su carrera, reinterpretados con diferentes formatos (acústico/eléctrico) e instrumentaciones sorprendentes.

Gran disco de Indie pop. Fresco, suave, melodioso, moderno, de letras de rabiosa actualidad, juvenil, actual, en la corriente de buen trabajo nacional que se está haciendo últimamente, mucho nivel.
Con muy buenos arreglos, que se palpan en el gran trabajo final. Pese a poder parecer en algún momento intimista, destila optimismo por los cuatro costados. Con una cuidada instrumentación.
Comienza con un tema de curioso nombre, de desgraciada realidad, permitidme decir, de buena letra y bien resuelto. Para empezar a mover los pies como toca, genera expectación para ver qué nos encontraremos después. Seguimos con un tema de curiosa letra, con un "Ya te llamaré yo" tremendo, buena melodía, muy pegadizo y bailable. Después un tema más alegre y vivo, de letra muy currada también, divertida, bailable y muy popera. A continuación en el cuarto corte guitarras arriba, las chicas al poder y el resultado como no podía ser de otra manera maravilloso! Hit claro y a bailar (sin mover los pies) que dice la canción, el mejor tema del disco para mi. Más tarde llegan dos temas de transición, correctos, de buena letra y ritmete agradable. Dan paso a un tema más intimista, más acústico, que arranca tras un minuto y medio con más instrumentación y componen un halo de genialidad, un enredo divertido de letra y armoniosa instrumentación.
Seguimos con más rollete suave pero eficaz, Indie pop puro y duro, de buena letra y correcta instrumentación. De melodías sencillas y bailables. Y así dos temas, en el corte diez, cambiamos de registro y el sonido se hace más claro, el tempo sube un punto y el ukelele marca la pauta, entran más instrumentos y el tema gana un tanto, convirtiendo la escucha del mismo en una mejor experiencia. Luego llega otro tema más tranqui, con letra trabajada y un sonido más retraido. "Normandía" cambia de nuevo el tercio, se revela como un tema más mediterráneo, de sonido sesentón, sabor a pop clásico. Y para acabar el disco un tema sincero, de buena melodía y letra emocionante entre unos buenos acordes.
En resumen un disco más que interesante para los amantes del buen Indie nacional, no defrauda, pone el listón alto gracias a unas trabajadas letras, a unos marcados arreglos, una buena instrumentación y gente que destila optimismo y buen rollo. Destacaros por último el libreto-poster, con fotos geniales y gran ambientación.

So it seems Steel Panther are back, dropping "Balls Out" on "Cocktober 31st". Sometimes a band will return and you ask "are they still relevant?", that question isn't particularly pertinent when it comes to Steel Panther because well, they never were relevant. Happy at home on the Sunset Strip the surprise success of their sophomore album "Feel the Steel" in 2009 took them on a subsequent ascent with world tours with Motley Crue and Def Leppard which in turn has led their minds to even further strange and frightening  places.

With yet more sanity testing song titles such as "Just Like Tiger Woods", "It Won't Suck Itself" and "Weenie Ride"  their "hotbox" album begins with a monologue declaring that it is now the year 6969, but soon enough we're thrust back into the 80s with "Michael Starr"'s trademark falsetto and Guns n Rosesesque chord progressions and solos from the equally sudonyminous "Satchel", but of course not forgetting their unique and frankly bonkers lyricism.

17 Girls for example chronicles an evening in which Starr had intimate encounters with 17 women consecutively detailing the locations including a grocery store and a trailer park as well as detailing his unusual love making techniques. It's all quite typical of them but anything else would have been a bit of a curveball, SP are a great time and that's all they need to be.

There's modern references to Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Call of Duty and Angry Birds which does mix up the feel a little but it's still very much bygone era glam rock on the surface and, if you'll excuse this phrase, Steel Panther's special sauce under the surface and that's what really matters.

La ocasión no podía ser más propicia. Ayer mismo Leonard Cohen aparecía por Oviedo para recoger el Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras, hoy nos encontramos la esperada foto dando la mano a Nacho Vegas y de regalo esa declaración en la que el cantautor asturiano le advierte que igual estos días tiene que estrechar la mano a alguno de los que mataron a Lorca. Y en medio de todo esto, Christina Rosenvinge nos suelta su ‘Hallelujah‘, uniéndose a la larga lista de músicos que la han versioneado.
Comienza el vídeo afirmando que sólo por escribir esta canción ya se puede sentar a la mesa con los grandes apóstoles de la poesía del siglo XX. Ella no tendrá asiento allí, al menos por esta versión que creo que le ha quedado bastante floja, ni participó en el concierto homenaje que ayer le dieron un montón de músicos asturianos relacionados de alguna manera con el Xixon Sound. Pero le sirve perfectamente para promocionar su próximo disco recopilatorio, Un caso sin resolver.
Será una caja con 4 CD’s y un DVD para los que ha vuelto a grabar sus grandes éxitos de toda su carrera, tanto en solitario como con Los Subterráneos y que, además de esta versión y otra de Refree, incluirá cinco temas inéditos. Su lanzamiento está previsto para el 22 de noviembre. ¿Se atreverá con ‘¡Chas! y aparezco a tu lado’?, ¿Sabremos algún día toda la verdad sobre la muerte de Lorca?, ¿Por qué soy incapaz de escribir un post sobre Christina sin que aparezca Nacho?. Demasiados casos sin resolver.

Convocatoria Plásticos y Etéreos 2012 / Apuntate !!

Plásticos y Etéreos 2012 es una acción de Plástica en colaboración con Myspace España que busca difundir el talento musical hispano por todo el mundo reuniendo lo más destacable de la escena actual.

Argentina, Chile, España, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, México, Perú, y Puerto Rico. Un total de ocho nacionalidades distintas se dieron cita en la última edición de Plásticos y Etéreos. La noticia del lanzamiento, haciendo hincapié especial en muchos de sus músicos, fue recogida por más de 80 medios y gente relacionada con el sector en 15 países distintos.

Las inscripciones para participar en Plásticos y Etéreos 2012 están abiertas del 15 de Octubre de 2011 al 15 de Diciembre de 2011 inclusive a través de un formulario en Myspace. El proceso de selección se realizará durante todo el mes de Diciembre y el tracklist, así como las fechas de lanzamiento del disco se darán a conocer durante la primera quincena de Enero de 2012.

Los participantes de dicha compilación serán englobados entre las propuestas musicales más destacadas y a tener en cuenta de cara al nuevo año 2012, y disfrutarán de un plan de difusión anual a través de la propia acción que llevará a presentar el disco en España, Estados Unidos y México. Muse will release their new album in Autumn next year, it has been reported.

The band whose last album 'The Resistance' came out back in September 2009 are currently recording its follow-up, sources close to the band can reveal.

“They've now gone into the recording studio. Hopefully, the album might come out October next year,” the band's manager Anthony Addis told Billboard.

The band, known for their explosive live shows, had previously toyed with the idea of only releasing single tracks instead of full lengths, but it seems the group have had a change of heart with this yet-unnamed release.

“They've written a lot of material already, but you don't know how it's going to gel between them all. They write constantly. They write on the road, so before or after a gig they'll write nearly every night,” their manager added.

Muse have been touring extensively over the past year, playing the Reading and Leeds festivals among others, but look set to take a breather at least for the moment.

It will come at a perfect time, with singer Matt Bellamy having to juggle being a new father with the band's gruelling schedule - his wife Kate Hudson recently giving birth to their first child in July.

Every now and then venturing through the daily and weekly top 10 lists in the most elite of the musical elitests over at what.cd you notice something that you don't expect to see in the heady heights usually reserved for the big name releases of that month (as well as endless radiohead remixes). I look forward to these moments as they tend to be prescient foretellings of bands that will be popular in about 6 months' time or even next festival season. This is where I stumbled upon OK Sweetheart after flirting with the idea of them at SXSW back in 2010.

It might be said that this, the Oklahomanian's debut album is an Autumnal stroll through small town 1960, taking their influences from the more easy going storytellers of that era and though there are strings, delicate vocals, "ba ba ba's", twinkling guitars and talk of love and heartbreak they thankfully stop short of the over populated twee genre of our own.

It's not overthought but it's also not simply nice to listen to, there is a depth and that tends to be what resonates with the haughty high-hats at the internet's, and my own favourite torrent site. See what you think.
